<p>The Lakeview Village site was previously home to the Lakeview Generating Station — a coal plant that sat on the lakeshore for decades and effectively blocked public access to that stretch of Lake Ontario. Its demolition and the cleanup of the site opened up 177 acres of prime waterfront land for redevelopment, which is what is now called Lakeview Village.</p>
<h2>The Broader Mississauga Waterfront Vision</h2>
<p>The City of Mississauga has invested in its waterfront for years, and Lakeview Village sits within a broader chain of public waterfront assets: Rattray Marsh Conservation Area to the west, the Port Credit waterfront and marina, the Lakeview Village waterfront park under development, and the eventual connection eastward toward Toronto. The goal is a continuous trail and park corridor along the entire Mississauga shoreline.</p>

<p>The conservation area within the Lakeview Village master plan is named after the late Mississauga councillor who championed the waterfront's restoration. <p>Port Credit's established waterfront park and marina are immediately west of Lakeview Village. As the LV trail network matures, the two will connect into a continuous public waterfront. <p>Waterfront transformations of this scale take time. Infrastructure, parks, and retail at Lakeview Village will develop in phases over years. The master plan is the vision; actual delivery depends on market conditions, construction timelines, and city investment.
